Barry M. Kornblau, ChairBarry M. Kornblau, Chair

Mr. Kornblau is Chairman & CEO of Summit Realty Group, Inc. He was formerly Senior Vice President for United Dominion Realty Trust and served on the Trust's Board of Directors. Mr. Kornblau graduated from Old Dominion University. Mr. Kornblau is a founder and director of Commerce Bank of Virginia and a former trustee of the Steward School.

 

 
Peter CoughterPeter Coughter

Mr. Coughter is President of Coughter & Company, a Richmond-based consulting firm. He is also a partner in Big Image Graphics. Previously, he was president of Siddall, Matus & Coughter, a successful advertising and public relations firm in Richmond. Currently an Adjunct Faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University’s AdCenter, Mr. Coughter holds a B.A. degree from Providence College and an M.S. degree from Syracuse University.

 

Kenneth N. DanielsKenneth N. Daniels

Dr. Daniels is Professor of Finance at Virginia Commonwealth University. His teaching interests include financial service institutions, municipal bonds, corporate finance and financial markets. He also serves on the Treasury Board of the State of Virginia. He holds a BA degree from Fairfield University and Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Connecticut.

 
Kenneth N. DanielsDouglas W. Densmore

Mr. Densmore is an attorney with Gentry, Locke, Rakes and Moore, LLP in Roanoke, Virginia. His law practice focuses on corporate law, securities and corporate finance law (including board compliance matters), commercial law and mergers and acquisitions. He is a member of both Virginia and Ohio bars and was appointed in 2005 to the Treasury Board for the Commonwealth of Virginia by Governor Mark R. Warner and reappointed to that Board by Governor Tim Kaine.

Laura DupuyLaura Dupuy

Ms. Dupuy is the Executive Director of Lynchburg Neighborhood Development Foundation, a nonprofit finance and development organization serving Central Virginia. She was formerly a staff attorney with The Virginia Legal Aid Society and has also served as a Congressional district correspondent and legislative researcher and acted as a liaison to a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee. She holds a J.D. degree from George Mason University Law School. 

 

Charlie R. Henderson, Jr.Charlie R. Henderson Jr.

Mr. Henderson is the Hampton Roads Market President for Bank of America.  In addition, he serves as the company's Community Development Strategies executive within the Global Community Impact group. In his community development role, he manages national strategic relationships, strategies and initiatives. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

 

Vernard HenleyVernard W. Henley

Mr. Henley is a retired Chairman, President and CEO of Consolidated Bank and Trust, the first minority-owned and operated bank in the country. He is actively involved in numerous civic pursuits in the Richmond community and is a past member of the Board of Commissioners of Virginia Housing Development Authority. Mr. Henley is a 1951 graduate of Virginia State University.

 

John PurnellJohn C. Purnell, Jr.

Mr. Purnell is the Executive Director of Friends Association for Children in Richmond, VA. He has been a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Virginia Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Mr. Purnell is a member of Christian Children’s Fund Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Hampton University and holds graduate degrees in social work and public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. 

 

John SalopJohn P. Salop

Mr. Salop is a Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer with BB&T and has been with the bank since 1974. Mr. Salop graduated from the College of William & Mary and received a post graduate degree from the Banking School of the South at Louisiana State University.

 

 

Jeff D. Smith, IIIJeff D. Smith III

Mr. Smith is President of The Smith Group, Inc., a Virginia management corporation that assists businesses operating in Virginia with developing strategies for legislative and regulatory objectives. He has held several state legislative appointments to General Assembly Study Committees.

 

 

 

Richard T. Wheeler, Jr.Richard T. Wheeler Jr.

Mr. Wheeler is President and CEO, Franklin Federal Savings and Loan Association, Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Wheeler joined Franklin Federal in 1992. He previously was a partner with KPMG Peat Marwick (now KPMG LLP) and gained prior banking experience at one of Bank of America’s predecessor banks. He is a graduate of University of Virginia. Mr. Wheeler has been active in efforts to increase membership on VCDC’s board of directors.

 

Sara Redding WilsonSara Redding Wilson

Mrs. Wilson is Director of the Department of Human Resources Management for the Commonwealth of Virginia. She was formerly an Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Signet Banking Corporation.
